Rogue One - A Star Wars Story

Rogue One - A Star Wars Story
Galen Erso is a scientist forced by the Empire to create a powerful new weapon known as the Death Star. Despite his own captivity, he is able to send a hologram to his long-lost daughter, Jyn, revealing a weakness in the design that could lead to the weapon’s destruction. The almost decimated Rebellion, however, is reluctant to travel to the Empire stronghold to obtain the blueprints for the Death Star leaving only a handful of rogue rebels willing to risk everything to stop the weapon’s destruction. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for in “Rogue One – A Star Wars Story”.

∙ On Jedha, when a captive Bodhi Rook is being taken to see Saw Gerrera, the view of the statue in the desert shows that it’s laying on its left side in the sand. But, a few moments later, when the scene pans out after they put the bag over his head, the statue is shown laying on it’s right side.

∙ Jyn Erso meets with Saw Gerrera. During their conversation, Saw Gerrera’s oxygen mask changes position on his chest. It’s closer to the circular emblem on his left side when he first starts toward Jyn. It then changes to being further up, closer to his neck when she says, “You told me to wait in the bunker…”. The mask is back down when they argue. Saw then takes a breath and the mask is up again. But, when Jyn comments “whatever you’re…”, the mask is down.

∙ Caution: May Contain Spoilers! After the rebel attack, a wounded Galen Erso is on the ground. As Krennic looks back, Galen’s left leg is bent while his right leg is stretched out. It cuts to a different view as the ship’s doors start to close and it’s his right leg that’s bent. When Jyn has to leave him a few moments later, it’s Galen’s left leg that’s bent again.

∙ Also during this scene, Baze Malbus is firing his weapon from the cliff. In the wider view, Chirrut Imwe is standing behind him, holding his staff in his right hand. It cuts to a close-up of Baze as he continues to fire and Chirrut’s angle has changed and his right hand is empty.

“Rogue One – A Star Wars Story” (2016) stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Guy Henry, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Jimmy Smits, Alistair Petrie and Genevieve O’Reilly. It runs 133 minutes and is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of sci-fi violence and action.
