Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern are four school aged friends. Vern overhears his brother talking about the whereabouts of a local missing boy and the four decide to venture out on a quest to see the dead body. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Stand By Me”.

· The boys are trying to escape from Milo Pressman and his dog, Chopper. Gordie starts to run and Pressman yells he’s going to sic his dog on him. The view of Gordie shows he passes two old, gray truck on his right. The scene cuts to the others who are yelling at him to run and then back to Gordie. He runs by the same two trucks again.

· After the incident with Pressman at the junkyard, the boys are walking when Teddy stops to say he’s sorry for spoiling everyone’s good time. Chris puts his right hand on Teddy’s left shoulder. It’s still there when Gordie says, “maybe it shouldn’t be a party”. Chris takes his hand off Teddy’s shoulder when he tells Vern to shut up. His hand is back on Teddy’s shoulder in the next wider view of the boys.

· The boys arrive at the water and Chris breaks a branch off a nearby tree/shrub. The stick has a fork (with two parts sticking out) on the end that he uses to see how deep the water is. It cuts to a farther view and the stick he’s holding is different—there’s no fork.

· Teddy dunks Vern under the water. In the close-up, Teddy is wearing his glasses. It cuts to a wider view of all four boys when Chris tells him to act his age and Teddy’s holding his glasses in his left hand. The scene flips back to the close-up when Teddy says he’s in the prime of his youth and he’s wearing his glasses again. He eventually takes them off when they begin to horseplay.

· Ace, Billy and Charlie are playing chicken with the other vehicle when the logging truck appears on the road in front of them. In the farther view of the car, it’s different actors/stunt doubles. This is especially noticeable in the close-up from behind Ace’s right shoulder as he’s driving. Ace has blonde hair while the driver now has brown hair. Also, in the close-ups, Billy is holding a beer bottle in his hand. In the farther view, he puts his hands up and there’s no beer.

“Stand By Me” (1986) is based on the story by Stephen King and stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, Gary Riley, Marshall Bell, Richard Dreyfuss and John Cusack. It runs 89 minutes and is rated R for violence, language, and frightening and intense scenes.
