Review - Simple Sell Sheets by Rebecca Flaherty
In this Skillshare course entitled Simple Sell Sheets for your Surface Pattern Design and Illustration Portfolio, Rebecca Flaherty teaches you how to create sell sheets for your surface pattern designs. The class project is to create your own sell sheet templates.
Flaherty begins by discussing what to include in your sell sheets and why. She discusses what is mandatory to include and what other information is optional, such as color palette, logo and mockups. She also shares how she generates the SKU numbers for her sell sheets. She discusses when and how you might want to use your sell sheets, including on your portfolio website, sharing on social sites and sending to clients.
After this introduction, Flaherty demonstrates how to build a single pattern sell sheet template in Photoshop. She discusses the dimensions, color mode, margins and other details of the Photoshop document. Next, she demonstrates how to add the identification and other details for the single pattern at the bottom of the page and the color palette at the top of the page.
You will include two examples of one pattern in this single pattern sell sheet. The main example is a large sized pattern and the second example will be a smaller sized pattern in the same or a different color-way. Flaherty teaches how to use the Layers panel to organize the text and artwork layers for you template.
Once you have learned the process, Flaherty demonstrates how to build three other sell sheet templates. One sell sheet template is for a single illustration. A second is for a print and pattern combination. And the third is for a the most common type of sell sheet which is the pattern collection sell sheet. Lastly, she discusses how to save and export your template and your individual sell sheets created with the templates.
